We believe that we make some of the best quality timber buildings available anywhere. Why? Because no compromise is made on materials unlike other companies. Our first consideration is the customers’ needs.
How long does it take for my shed or garden building to be made?
The majority of our off-the-shelf designs will be with you within 14 days of the date you placed the order. If you have contacted us to request custom modifications to a building, or want to design your own building (perfectly possible), we will let you know the production time involved before we start.
Are your sheds well made?
We believe that a shed or garden building should be built to last. We use 13mm thick cladding as standard and build all our sheds from Scandinavian Redwood. All cladding is supplied treated against rot. In fact we believe so firmly our sheds will last, we offer a 15 year guarantee against rot, providing the sheds are treated annually with a standard wood preservative.
Can I put my shed together myself?
All our sheds and buildings are supplied with assembly instructions. You will usually only need an electric screwdriver/cordless drill, hammer and window sealant if your building includes windows.
What should I put my shed on?
We can’t stress how important it is to prepare the sub base correctly. You’d be amazed how many buildings we deliver, only to see the customer hasn’t even cleared the area never mind prepared it.
If the selected area is turf (grass) this should be removed, depending on the sub soil you may need to add hardcore to stabilize it. An anti-weed membrane should also be considered. Our suggested ideal base would be compacted hardcore with a levelled layer of sand then paving flags to 15cm larger than footprint of the shed. For smaller buildings levelled gravel or levelled timber (i.e. railway sleepers) are acceptable alternatives.
What are your sheds made of?
To help you understand the quality of our sheds, here is a list of standard materials:
• Shiplap Tongue and Groove (T&G) ladding 125 mm x 13 mm finish.
• Optional Loglap T&G cladding 125 mm x 19 mm
• Roof boarding and floor boarding are also 125 mm x 13 mm T&G.
• All framing is minimum 45 mm x 32 mm section Scandinavian Redwood.
• Doors are ledge & braced with super strong Lock rail 45 mm x 45 mm.
• Summer house doors are mortise & tenon
• Floor bearers are either 45 mm x 32 mm , 45 mm x 45 mm or 32 mm x 32 mm depending on model.
• All buildings are supplied with glass (except Wendy Houses which are supplied with perspex windows for safely)
Should I treat my new shed with anything to help it last longer?
Although the buildings come fully treated, additional coats of wood preserver are required to maintain the building in top condition, and to meet the terms of our 15 year rot resistant guarantee. The first of which must be applied within two weeks of the building being erected, if the building is to be stored unassembled it must be protected from the weather until such time it has been erected and retreated. Any good quality wood preserver e.g. Cuprinol, Sadolin, preferably oil based as these offer better weather proofing than water based products.
Do you offer an assembly service?
We are often asked to assemble our clients sheds and garden buildings and indeed it’s a pleasure to see a new building completed before we leave. We can put most of our buildings up in a single day. As prices vary with building size and your level of group preparation, please call to discuss your assembly requirements .
